CAPTAIN KIRK AND MEL’S MIX

I’m sorry to say that Mel’s Mix has actually had more time with celebrities than I have! As part of promoting the ALL NEW Square Foot Gardening method, we signed a licensing agreement with a big soil company here in the United States. They would mix, bag, and sell Mel’s Mix throughout the country. The company came up with a pretty neat program called “Weekend Warriors,” where they trained young people to go into large home centers like Home Depot and Lowe’s on Saturdays and give demonstrations. These young men and women would build and plant Square Foot Gardens to show people how it was done, and then the customers could buy everything they needed for their SFGs, right there at the store. The company hired William Shatner of Star Trek fame—and lots of other TV shows and movies—to promote Mel’s Mix on TV. I love all his TV shows, but unfortunately never got a chance to meet him. My Mel’s Mix spent some quality time with him, but that was as close as I ever got to that star!
